Dental Implants

Dental implants can replace missing teeth giving you a natural appearance, feel and function virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. The implant is a Titanium screw that an oral surgeon places into the jaw bone as an anchor for a crown, bridge or denture.

Dental implants are extremely strong, durable and stable resulting in bridges and dentures that are more secure and comfortable. The implant helps maintain your bone structure. The bone loss and gum recession typically seen with lost teeth, dentures and bridges is eliminated since your body integrates the implant similar to a natural tooth.

Implant placement requires a number of visits over several months beginning with the oral surgeon to place the implant abutment or extension. After the implant is placed, a “flipper” or removable denture will provide a temporary tooth where the bridge or crown will later be placed. Typically, the placement of the implant abutment/extension is followed by a waiting period for the jaw bone to fuse with the implant. Once the implant is successfully fused, our dentist will then follow the standard crown or bridge procedure. You will receive and a temporary crown or bridge then approximately two to three weeks later, you will be fitted with the permanent crown or bridge.
